HBO's The Last of Us has cast the two main characters. Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey have joined the project and will portray Joel and Ellie.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, The role of Ellie will be portrayed by Bella Ramsey, who portrayed the role of Lyanna Mormont in the hit TV show Game of Thrones. The announcement was followed shortly by the casting of Joel, who will be played by Pedro Pascal. Pascal is known from his roles in Game of Thrones (as Oberyn Martell) and The Mandalorian (as... The Mandalorian). The latter news was reported by Deadline.

Both Neil Druckmann and Pedro Pascal took to Twitter to share their excitement for the announcement.

The upcoming HBO show already made headlines last month, as a director was found for the pilot. The Hollywood Reporter wrote that the pilot will be directed by Kantemir Balagov, who previously directed the movie Beanpole. Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin will work together in writing the script and executive produce the show. The show is said to follow the plot of the game.
