Activision has shut down 27 servers without any notice

Unlucky if you still wanted to get the online achievements.

Last month, Activision shut down more than twenty servers without giving any notice about these actions. As a result, you can no longer use the online services of these games, nor can you earn any of the online achievements anymore.

In most cases, online functionality—including multiplayer gameplay and in-game or in-app transactions—is disabled where applicable. Also, these games will no longer receive title updates, patches, or bug fixes. For some of these titles, offline features such as campaign will remain unaffected. Support for these games is also reduced. Warranty replacements are no longer available, we will not be able to assist with issues related to stats/rank, leaderboards, or transactions, and technical support may be unavailable or limited to basic troubleshooting.

The list consists of the following titles;

  • 007 Legends
  • 007: Quantum of Solace
  • Band Hero
  • Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2012
  • Cabela's Big Game Hunter: Hunting Party
  • Cabela's Hunting Expeditions
  • Cabela's Survival: Shadows of Katmai
  • DJ Hero
  • DJ Hero 2
  • Enemy Territory: Quake Wars
  • Fast & Furious: Showdown
  • GoldenEye 007
  • GoldenEye 007: Reloaded
  • Guitar Hero 5
  • Guitar Hero: Metallica
  • Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock (added on March 06, 2020)
  • Guitar Hero: World Tour (added on March 06, 2020)
  • Guitar Hero: Van Halen
  • James Bond 007: Blood Stone
  • Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2
  • NASCAR The Game: Inside Line
  • Pitfall! Krave
  • Tony Hawk: Ride
  • Tony Hawk: Shred
  • Top Shot Arcade
  • Transformers: Dark of the Moon
  • Wipeout 2
  • Wolfenstein

As of today, they have added two more Guitar Hero titles to the list (Warriors of Rock and World Tour), meaning none of the Guitar Hero titles will be capable of going online. Is this the imminent death of the Guitar Hero series? Despite that these games probably did not have a lot of activity online anymore, it would have been nice if Activision actually gave players an update about this decision. People would be aware of the shutdown and would still have a chance to play it online one last time before the servers get pulled and for achievement hunters, they would still have time to help each other out by earning the resting achievements.
