Amazon is delaying its upcoming MMORPG again. After previously being delayed twice, the game was expected to release sometime during Spring; the new and third delay is now pushing the game back to 31 August 2021.

New World was originally delayed last year from May to August due to COVID-19 complications. That delay was then followed by a second delay to Spring 2021, to allow the game to be on-point for release. The studio has now decided on a third delay so the team can continue working on end-game features that are important to be included at launch. The extra time will give them the chance to add substantial improvements, polishing, and fine-tuning the whole game before release.

The previous delays were not without success; thanks to feedback from its Alpha players, New World has received numerous updates which included a polished combat system, increased quest variety, expanded weapon and armour variety, the addition of fishing, map expansion, an overhaul of the crafting system, and new mid-game and end-game content.

With the delay pushing back the release date to 31 August 2021, the Closed Beta period will be starting on 20 July. If you have pre-ordered New World, you'll be able to play and be a part of the Closed Beta. Players who have access to the Alpha have nothing to worry about, as it will continue in the months to come.
