The player experience is still quite rough, and the team have noted this with a significant change for this coming year. It has been close to a year since launch and Anthem are now going to get more than just an update, more like an Anthem: A Realm Reborn if you excuse the pun.

Over the coming months we will be focusing on a longer-term redesign of the experience, specifically working to reinvent the core gameplay loop with clear goals, motivating challenges and progression with meaningful rewards,” continued Casey Hudson as he addresses the players on a brief roadmap on Anthem’s future.

With the game in steep decline despite its updates to the game, the repetitive gameplay caused players to feel that despite a grind, there was little to no content and almost no variety in gameplay to warrant continuing. If BioWare can turn the game around and add in a lot of new content, then could that bring back a dying star? Only time will tell if it is revived or destined for the cosmic abyss.

While work towards this version 2.0 is in progress, BioWare will be still running the servers for Anthem; however, the seasonal updates will be on hiatus. “We’ll keep the game going with events, store refreshes, and revisiting past seasonal and cataclysm content – starting with our anniversary towards the end of the month.

What they have planned for the anniversary is anyone’s guess but let’s hope that BioWare can turn things around before EA decide otherwise.
