PlayStation gets it first.
It finally happened: Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 2 Campaign Remastered has been officially announced and released, after numerous rumours and recent leaks.
In an official announcement by Activision, the company shares details about the remaster that was released today. Right now, PlayStation will have the upper hand, as the game will be a temporary exclusive to the platform, with the release for PC and Xbox One being set for April 30th, however, the game can be pre-ordered on these platforms as well (with Blizzard being the platform on PC).
The remaster enjoys a complete enhancement of the campaign of one of the most beloved 'Call of Duty'-titles. Remastered by Beenox, the title features improved texture resolution, texture details, revamped animations, remastered audio and much more. Naturally, they have added 4K and HDR support on consoles as well. PC gamers will not be left in the dark, however, as ultrawide monitor support has been added and the framerate will be uncapped.
Players who buy the Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 2 Campaign Remastered will receive a free bundle for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Should you pre-order the title on PC or Xbox One, you will also be eligible for the same bundle, which will be available instantly when purchased. Here is what the bundle includes;
Players who purchase will also receive, free with purchase, Underwater Demo Team Classic Ghost Bundle for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare including the UDT Ghost Operator skin inspired by the ‘The Only Easy Day…Was Yesterday’ campaign level that featured an action-packed hostage rescue attempt from an oil rig in in the arctic. Alongside the Ghost Operator skin, players will also receive two weapon blueprints, a weapon charm, new finishing move, voice quip, animated calling card, emblem and two Battle Pass tier skips all for immediate access in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and the recently released Call of Duty: Warzone*.
So what about the multiplayer and co-op modes? These will not be remastered. As confirmed by Activision, some maps have already made their way to the new Modern Warfare multiplayer, while others were partly incorporated within the battle royale mode, Warzone. More maps will make their way somehow into these games.
You can find Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 2 Campaign Remastered on Playstation Network, Xbox and on PC on the Blizzard app (pre-purchases will be available shortly).
