Developer Awaceb has decided to delay the release of Tchia. Originally, the tropical adventure game had a release window of Spring 2022, but that has now been pushed back to early 2023.
Game director Phil Crifo has posted a statement on social media explaining that the team at Awaceb will use the extra time to "really polish every aspect of the game and flesh out all the little details that we know will make Tchia a really special experience."
The indie title is a tropical open-world adventure that is inspired by the studio's homeland New Caledonia, an island in the Pacific Ocean. The studio detailed that it will feature a heartfelt adventure with a diverse cast of characters, traditional language, and an original orchestral score; all infused with local influences.
Tchia will be released early in 2023 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and on PC through Epic Games Store. A page is live on the Steam store as well, though it is not stated whether it will actually release on Steam at launch as well.
