The Last of Us Part I remake has officially been announced

After leaking earlier today, ahead of Summer Game Fest.

Naughty Dog has officially announced the Last of Us Part I Remake at Summer Game Fest. The announcement was pre-empted by it being leaked by Sony themselves through their Direct PlayStation pages. The remake is coming to PlayStation 5 on 2 September 2022 and is currently also in development for PC.

Compared to the original, the developers have taken lessons from Uncharted 4's development and The Last of Us Part II's development and brought modernised gameplay, improved controls, and expansive accessibility options. The combat, exploration, and effects of the game have also been enhanced. PlayStation 5 users will also be able to enjoy the implemented 3D Audio, and the Dualsense's haptics and adaptive triggers.


The Last of Us Part I remake will also include the DLC story 'Left Behind' and will cost you $69.99 USD / $ 89.99 CAD / €79.99 / ¥7,900 for the standard edition. There will also be a Digital Deluxe Edition and a Firefly Edition available, where the Digital Deluxe Edition will cost you $79.99 USD / $99.99 CAD / €89.99 / ¥8,900 and will grant you an early unlock within the game of the following items:

  • Increased Crafting Speed Skill
  • Increased Healing Speed Skill
  • 9mm Reload Speed Increase Upgrade
  • Rifle Clip Capacity Increase Upgrade
  • Explosive Arrows Gameplay Modifier
  • Dither Punk Filter
  • Speedrun Mode
  • Six Weapon Skins: Black Gold 9mm Pistol, Silver Filigree 9mm Pistol, Rubber Tactical Shotgun, Sculpted Oak Shotgun, Arctic White Bow, Carbon Black Bow

The-Last-of-Us-Part-I---Firefly-Edition

The Firefly Edition will in turn cost you $99.99 USD, will only be for sale in the US via direct.playstation.com and will include the aforementioned unlocks as well as a Steelbook display case, and the American Dreams # 1 to #4 comics with new covers.

Players who pre-order any edition of The Last of Us Part I for PS5 will receive bonus supplements to upgrade your skillset and bonus weapon parts to upgrade your arsenal in the game when it releases.
